Welcome to the beautiful architecture of St Basil's Cathedral. St Basil's is located in Moscow, Russia. The entire school's thematic unit is Fairy Tales and Fables, the older students are creating projects from the regions many fairy tales originated.
5th grade is creating projects inspired by architecture found in the countries of Russia and Germany.
Day One: Students create 5 overlapping towers with pencil and ruler.
Designs on the tower were also added at this time.
Next came the paint!
Day 2: More painting! Let your imagination run free....
Day 3: When the paintings were dry they cut out the towers and glued them onto 12 x 18 construction paper backgrounds. They had to choose a season for their building to exist in. Many choose winter but here are two summer environments. Painted paper suns, trees, and other details were added as well.
I have done these before with students but this year
we really added vivid patterns.
Bright colorful tempera paints were used to complete the festive look.
Fantastic! I particularly like the extra step of cutting them out and putting them on a second background.
ReplyDeleteThis is super cute. I can't wait to try it next week with my daughter. Thank You
