4th grade students examined Picasso's paintings of the Mediterranean Sea. Pablo Picasso lived in the south of France and painted many different views of the beautiful sea. Students drew with pencils to sketch out their ideas, then painted with blue tempera paint and created various tints of blue as well. The students loved mixing their colors on the paper! After the students paintings were complete, they used oil pastels to outline shapes and add designs.
Supplies: 12 x 18 drawing paper, blue and white tempera paint oil pastels
Class time: 2- 40 minute classes
Picasso's Seascape
Nice. I'm going to be starting Picasso as our "Artist of the Month" for February, so I love seeing new ideas. I don't have any images of these Picasso paintings. Any hint where to find them?
ReplyDeleteI have an awesome book that has all different works of art! Picasso-The Worlds Greatest Art by Star Fire-Crabtree. It has everything that Picasso has created. The only problem is it is 6 x 6 inches big. But it works! Check out Olga's Gallery that has some really neat images as well. :) Let me know if ya need more.
ReplyDeleteI love your Picasso inspired landscapes and seascapes! The landscapes are bright and joyful and these are so serene and dreamlike.
