What a fun way to teach the color wheel! My son did a project something like this in his K class. I changed it a little and had the 2nd graders create rainbows. We also talked about how a rainbow is made an added painted paper rain clouds and suns. They were hit with the students.
Just curious, do you teach the Roy G Biv names? I just use the R,O,Y,G,B,V because indigo is confusing. I also try to have the kids say violet, not just purple. What are your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteYep, I teach the names and explain that indigo is blue and violet mixed together. We just did not paint the indigo this time.
ReplyDeleteLook up "they might be giants, roy g biv" on you tube. you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI second They Might Be Giants. Love that. :)
ReplyDeleteJust wondering...what is your process for creating painted paper. I've done it with a few grades and it always takes FOREVER...the kids paint one (fairly sized) piece in a class period.
Just wondering how you make it work so efficiently!!
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I will check out "They Might Be Giants".
